Blonde Brownies (another winner from Nann Pettey)

2/3 cup margarine or butter
2 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1- 6 oz. pkg chocolate chips
3/4 c. nuts, chopped (optional)


Cream margarine, sugar, and vanilla; add eggs one at a time. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture. Blend in chocolate chips and nuts. Spread into greased 11 x 16 inch pan; (i used 9 x 13 pan for thicker more cake like brownies).


Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.


*Do not over bake.
